On the 13th March, more than 1,100 representatives of Lancashire business celebrated another fantastic 12 months of trading at the fourth annual Red Rose Awards – the biggest to date; and for the second year running acdc were thrilled to collect the Large Business of the year award
The judges agreed that “acdc is an outstanding company with an impressive client and product list and a strong commitment to their local base but with a global reach.”
Speaking about the event, Richard Slater, publisher of Lancashire Business View and producer of the Red Rose Awards said: “It was a remarkable night of celebration for Lancashire business. There’s a renewed vigour and confidence in the county’s business community and this was demonstrated by the demand to be a part of the event; we’re told this is the biggest dinner gathering ever seen in one room in the county. There is no question, Lancashire was the winner.”
Winner – Large Business & Publisher’s Choice
More than 900 representatives of Lancashire business celebrated another fantastic 12 months of trading at the third annual Red Rose Awards at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. The last award of the night was worth the wait as acdc picked up not only the Large Business of the Year, but also the special publisher’s choice award.
Red Rose Awards founder and Lancashire Business View publisher Richard Slater said of the LED lighting company, “We featured acdc in our very first edition when they were just starting out. They knew they were on to something and it turned out they were right. Now they’re lighting up the world”.

acdc collected the Technology Business of the Year at the 2012 Red Rose Awards. The second Lancashire Business View Red Rose Awards celebrated the outstanding achievements of real businesses in our region, rewarding and recognising businesses which have not only survived but thrived in incredibly challenging times.
Commenting on the awards, Lancashire Business View believes “as a county we should be celebrating and congratulating hardworking industrious businesses and acknowledging our diverse and vibrant business community. It’s a night where we remind each other just how good Lancashire is”.
acdc has picked up the North West’s award for Finding New International Markets, sponsored by RBS and Natwest. The business, which employs 90 people, is now a finalist in its category for the UK title in the Chamber Awards hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce, which were created to celebrate the UK’s most successful businesses.
John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said ” the health of the UK’s economy relies upon the confidence of our business to grow, invest and create jobs. These awards provide a snapshot of some of the most impressive companies from across the country. We’re delighted to be able to celebrate the success of these companies through the Chamber Awards”.

2010 saw acdc collect the award for International Trade at the BIBAs; along with closely missing out on the Innovation award.
The BIBAs is Lancashire’s major business competition and has been designed to reward outstanding business achievement and recognise excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the business community.
Winner – Business of the Year
A lighting company that has supplied some of the world’s most cutting edge buildings was last night named East Lancashire’s top business. Staff from acdc were the winners of the prestigious Business of the Year award at the Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards.
Judges were impressed with the firm’s rapid growth in export markets, where is has completed lighting contracts for the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai and the Cube in Moscow.
Lancashire Telegraph editor Kevin Young said, ‘Once again we enjoyed a fantastic night, with the cream of the crop from the East Lancashire business community in attendance”. Mike Damms, Chief Executive of the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, added “The Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards have always been a key event in the calendar, and this year was no exception. It is great to see the best of the best celebrated with a fantastic evening”.
