The brief was to provide a full lighting scheme that would give a wow factor, but also be functional and energy efficient. Providing an attractive space for learning. (lets do this)
What we did
Three brands (acdc, Simes and Zumtobel) come together to bring the solution to the interior and exterior lighting. Come with us as we take you on a journey through the lighting scheme.
As we walk to the exterior of the facility, acdc MAGNA and Simes Microring greets and guides you towards the building.
acdc MAGNA with its IP67 rating is an in-ground, compact triple LED marker and wall wash luminaire. Installed in the ground against building to deliver 350lm with minimal glare alongside. Whilst Simes Microring round luminaires installed in the ground leading towards the entrance are characterised by a high level of mechanical resistance and excellent lighting performance. The perfect meet and greet.
Let’s go inside where Zumtobel’s Panos Infinity and Slotlight Infinity luminaires provide soothingly pure, uniform illumination to the entrance area. Panos Infinity blends into the architecture, providing a light approaching natural daylight, with pleasant colour temperatures and the option to adjust to an individual’s preference. Panos highly efficient Infinity downlights (energy saving of up to 70%)
Now come with us as we walk down the corridors of the College. Zumtobel’s Slotlight Infinity LED are installed into the modular ceiling to give an eye catching, streamlined strip of uniform light which complements the unique design of the space. Zumtobel Litecom was used to control the lighting and enable the college to provide different scenes as well as dynamic controlled via a tablet, smart phone or web browser.
Simes Lobby, utilised for the canopy downlights, a high performance, and outdoor LED downlight custom designed by Simes using a powerful new software to study and maximize the heat dissipation.
Our very own Novus low glare architectural downlights have also been incorporated. Novus offers an excellent range of interchangeable, highly efficient optics to deliver 1000 and 2000 lumen packages with fixed and adjustable variants. Seamlessly integrating into the architecture to complement the design.
Concord’s Head of Science Barry Brown said “The new science block has literally taken their breath away, the gasps were something I haven’t previously experienced in my 31 year career, and this new science building is going to be a terrific attraction for local and overseas students to study at Concord College. Students who have walked into the brand new science block for the first time have expressed their ‘amazement’ at the ‘stunning’ state-of-the-art facility, partly thanks to the lighting provided by Zumtobel Lighting and its sister companies acdc and Simes. #toamaze
